The Iron Eagle takes off again. With their fourth output "Black Sun" sets Primal Fear for a very large jump.Primal Fear, which was meant initially only as a side project of bassist Mat Sinner, developed meanwhile to one the most important German Metal acts. The new acquisition Henny Wolter (ex-Thunderhead) succeeded to give the Esslingen Act a true luck grasp. A difference to that so far publish albums is already noticeable after first hearing. "Black Sun" is substantially more varied than its predecessors. A majority of the texts turns again around the fight "good against evil", in whose center again the eagles (Iron Eagle) as synonym for good and strength. In the foreground of the compositions stand however fat guitars, which clear ramming and thundering their way. Whereby the singing was moved completely conscious into the second row and is skillfully embedded into the guitar walls . The strong voice of Ralf Scheepers nevertheless lends again and again a special note to the pieces. The ex Gamma Ray Fronter belonged already and for a long time now into the upper league of the Shouters and can be numbered confidently together with singers such as Bruce Dickinson or Rob Halford.Amongst the thirteen songs, in my opinion, there is not one that can be called a filler. The album can be represented by Midtempos like Magic Eye and Silence- two genuine masterpieces with hit potential on the disk. In addition, power Metal bombs such as the incoming goods We Go down - the fastest piece - or the title track"Black Sun" know how to please. It appears in addition remarkable that all pieces come much more raw and sound in such a way, as if they were brought in live. "Black Sun" is clearly less praise lasting like its predecessors, which confirms volume more self-sufficiency to that. The production took place under the direction of Mat Sinner and Achim Koehler, at the proven House OF Music music-Studio , in which already previous productions developed. Additionally one used an attendance every fourteen days in the Sonic Ranch studio in El Paso/Texas, in order to mix the existing material in all peace and separatingness . I honestly say that i was not expecting such a strong output from the Esslingen band
