Ralf has written this preview in november 2001 The Black sun was just a little more than a dream then the band was working VERY HARD on preproducing the album, but fortunately Ralf has found some time to write this very interesting review
in the name of all the Primal Fear fans, I only have one thing to say: Thank you for EVERYTHING,Ralf!!!!!!!!!
It's pretty hard to do a review of an album which isn't even recorded but I'll try to give some impressions of mine about the songs we are preparing right now.......
First of all I'd like to tell you that the band has really found together now after this year of touring and festivals....Henny has fitted in absolutely perfect so it's making things easier for all of us now to write some new songs together....
The songs we have written so far are absolutely in the same line we did before with even more melodie and agression. We are not one of these bands who want to do a total different thing to say we are evolving...no, we are putting our energy in the thing we love to do and that is pure straight forward heavy metal !! And for us this is evolution, progression and improvement ! Because we love Heavy Metal so there is no need to do anything else than that !!! It's got nothing to do with being modern to write songs which are pretty depressing and which sound like all of us are going to kill each other soon ! BULLSHIT !
It's very surprising for us when we now listen to the result of a song like "We go down"...the choirs of the Chorus and the outro choruses really have some not very Primal Fear typical harmonies but they really sound very interesting !! :-) Or songs like the new "Lightyears from home" -- what can I say ? It gave myself goosepimples all over my skin when I listened to the result, without any exaggeration !!! There are two songs we recorded last weekend called "Veiled control" and "Magic Eye"...... :-))
Do you know what I mean........that's a smile all over my face......... these songs are an absolute must for every Primal Fear fan !!!
Like I said, we are still preparing so all I can promise to our fans out there is that we stick to the direction of composing and there's no reason to change anything as long as we and our fans love what we do !! We wake up in the morning and have a good feeling to look into that mirror because we don't need to ask: "Is it ok what we are doing??" We listen to the first tracks we've been prerecording and scream out a loud YYYEEEAAAHHHH !!! That's exactly what we want to do !!!
So be patient, it's not a long time until spring next year...it's worth waiting for "BLACK SUN"
